Craft weekend, open house

Saturday, August 18 & Sunday, August 19 is our traditional summer open house. On the craft weekend we ( Hans & Sofie) will of course demonstrate most of the craft techniques compared to our normal open days. This year, Joseph Nagy and Sophie Van Nieuwenhove will also be on hand with numerous paintings and ongoing demonstrations. Program Saturday, Aug. 18

Between 10 am and 12 pm is the general tour. How do you start the production of a handmade jewel? We briefly go over each step and if the crowds allow, we can briefly demonstrate some operations.

• Between 2 and 3 p.m. it will be a demonstration of hand engraving on a copper plate. You can follow everything live along on big screen.
• Continuously I or my colleague will give a demonstration of high gloss polishing with a ring of a visitor* * Max 1 ring per visitor, these are demonstrations ie you can have more polished but we ask a small fee for that.
• At 4 p.m. there will be an informal session on "old gold" and its possibilities. You will have the opportunity to ask questions and possibly have old gold tested to see if it is really 18kt or 14kt gold.
• Between 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. we will do some more short fun demonstrations such as spot welding, engraving and metal forging.

Program Sunday, August 19

• Between 10 and 12 you will learn all about our goldsmith academy and goldsmith for 1 day. Both totally different courses!
• Between 2 and 3 pm there will be an informal session on the 4 c's of diamonds and also the difference from the "Lab grown diamonds." Plus a Q&A session on diamonds.
• At 3:15 p.m. there will be a demonstration of setting stones under microscope.
• On an ongoing basis, I and my colleague will give some *limited demonstrations of high gloss polishing. Same conditions as described above.
• At 4 p.m. another informal session on "old gold" and its possibilities!
• Furthermore, depending on the number of visitors, we continue to give various demonstrations.
